- Description
- The Postal Service issued the 39-cent Benjamin Franklin commemorative stamp in four designs on April 7, 2006 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Richard Sheaff of Scottsdale, Arizona, designed the stamps.
- With the issuance of these stamps, the Postal Service recognized the 300th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), an American icon whose diverse accomplishments as a printer, postmaster, scientist, and political leader earned him a cherished place in the history of our nation.
- Each stamp features a collage representing one of four aspects of Franklin's life, career, and personal interests.
- Avery Dennison printed 40 million stamps in the gravure process.
